She stretched out languidly on her bed, allowing the full sense of euphoria to wash over her. The pleasure flooded through, causing her to smile foolishly. Her pulse quickened, almost painfully, but not quite. With a small, self-satisfied nod, she allowed herself to fall into the dizziness, and get lost in the overall sense of bliss. The colors were bright and sharp… Yet they were fading. The transition from colors to darkness went nearly unnoticed.
Her senses deadened as her body slowly went numb. Her thoughts obtained a slippery quality, denying her a firm hold on them. Obscure images came to her in snatches. They seemed details of a life partly forgotten. She sees a smile, and then a face. It is a pretty face, whose smile touches the emerald green eyes. A real smile. She recognizes the image; the face as familiar as her own… It fades, replaced by a vision of a lady. She is someone important. She is so beautiful, and she smiles with apparent love. Who is she? Then she is gone as well, replaced by many faces of people she knows vaguely. All are blurred together, yet she could tell they are smiling. Why does everyone smile? Then that image fades, replaced by a small puppy sitting happily under a lit-up tree in the house. Then there is a gathering of people around a table enjoying some feast. Then another image haunts her, then another, all teasing her with a life too good to be her own. Countless visions assail her, instilling within a want to scream so intense she loathed remaining silent.
