Pescosolido and Georgianna and reinterpretation of his theory strengthen Durkheim's case even more.

The data that Durkheim presented in Suicide was completely relevant to his time of the early twentieth century, around 1915. A lot of societal transformations have occurred, both in the religious sector and the political sector, which makes the society of today a suitable atmosphere for Pescosolido's and Georgianna's "network" theory. It seems that if Durkheim's theory can continue to be reexamined, then it will hold true. He expected the circumstances of his argument to change, as Giddens pointed out, and thus allowing us to take full value of a theory of suicide-rates which can constantly be reapplied. The deficiency of a diverse representation of religions in the survey's which Durkheim used in Suicide reflect the religious atmosphere that he experienced in his time. There are a greater representation of religions or non-religions per say and therefore their inclusion is necessary to the acceptance of Durkheim's theory today.
